Hi! I’m Margaret.
I’m the CMO at a bootstrapped, profitable SaaS platform for distributors. I’ve also been an advisor for founders and a coach for marketers.
I co-host a weekly show for strategic marketers and the founders that manage them, Don’t Say Content, that centers around the idea that the biggest friction in that relationship is taking time to say what you actually mean and cut through the jargon.
I love to speak at events and on panels about marketing strategy, AI, creativity, and management.
I’ve spent the last decade(ish) building scalable, effective marketing programs—and teams—for B2B SaaS companies. I have a serious aversion to the marketing playbooks that have been done before. I’m much more interested in creating the things that will work for a unique company, a unique target audience, at this unique moment in time, and what will be future-proofed (if anything).
Before my time advising and then going back in-house as a CMO, I spent a growth-filled ~3 years with the wonderful people at OpenView—the VC firm that coined the term Product-Led Growth—as their VP of Marketing. There, I both led marketing strategy for OpenView as a firm and worked with prospects/portfolio companies in an advisory capacity on topics ranging from org design to building high performing teams.
Pre-OpenView, I was the Director of Brand & Creative for Appcues. And before that, one of the first 40 employees at InVision. From pre-series A through series E, I designed, built, and grew strategic brand programs that lived at the intersection of content and community, including their award-winning blog, virtual event series DesignTalks, and often-meme'd newsletter sent from 'Clark from InVision'.
I’ve spent the last 7+ years building remote teams that are high-performing and have psychological safety. My current pet project is to explore the overlap between internal culture and external brand.
Notable stats:
Built and managed an online speaker series at InVision with an attendance of more than 54,000 designers per year
Grew Appcues’s blog to contribute 25% of sales-rotated leads
93% retention rate on the teams I have managed over the course of my career
Now you know my background and what I look like, but what does my voice sound like?
